Tobie is an Ottawa/Gatineau based violist and violinist. He is a graduate of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick (Masters in Classical String Performance) and Concordia University (BFA in Music Performance). As a freelance violist, he currently plays with the Gatineau Symphony Orchestra and has performed with various ensembles in Ireland, New York, Montreal and the Ottawa/Gatineau region. Tobie has continuously challenged himself as a student of many forms of music including early music performance (Musica Antigua of Lisbon), viola performance in Spain with Massimo Paris, mandolin performance (University of California) and pedagogy (University of Indiana). He has a passion for teaching violin and runs an active studio for private lessons in Aylmer, QC .
Après un Baccalauréat en interprétation de l’Université Concordia, Tobie Slippert a obtenu une maîtrise en interprétation de musique classique de l’Université de Limerick (Irlande) auprès du Maestro Bruno Giuranna. M. Slippert a suivi des cours en musique baroque en Espagne et au Portugal et, à l’Université d’Indiana, une formation en pédagogie pour l’enseignement du violon. Il a participé à une tournée en Irlande, avec l’orchestre Academos d’Irlande. Il a joué à New York et en Irlande avec le Irish chamber orchestra. Il a plus de 15 ans d’expérience d’enseignement avec les enfants et les adultes. Présentement il enseigne pour l’école De la sale ainsi que dans son studio privé. Tobie est membre régulier de l’Orchestre de Gatineau et joue régulièrement comme pigiste dans la région d’Ottawa/Gatineau.
